When I started my gardening business back in 2021, I called myself The Lazy Gardener, because my whole philosophy to gardening was to take the hard work out of gardening. Of course, that was never going to happen but if there was a short-cut that saved time by not having to go and buy something, then I was up for it and still am. Grow the plants that already love your garden. Cultivate seeds. No-dig. Cold composting etcetera.

Lovely Ant was very supportive in my new venture and even got The Lazy Gardener logo made for me. Emma, Ant’s good friend from uni, designed and made it. At the time, Emma asked if anyone else had this name and I said they didn’t. I thought that they didn’t because I’d previously checked if there was anyone with that trademark and there wasn’t.

However, what I should have done is check if anyone was trading under that name – which they were. Now, I’m not going to be hard on myself here as I do tend to make a lot of mistakes and I feel embarrassed about making these kinds of mistakes because there is some pressure to ‘know by now’. But I did forget and anyway, I wasn’t the only one.

There was a company trading that I want to say owned a shop in the north of the UK. There was also this lovely blog http://www.thelazygardener.blog/. There are several that I’ve come across on YouTube, even more on Facebook and https://www.lzgardener.com/ has to have a mention just for the menu options at the top of the home page.

But my all time, fav has to be The Lazy Gardener Podcast, Rob Foster https://soundcloud.com/the-lazy-gardener-podcast

I don’t know if Rob Foster is still making content as these podcasts seem to only be from 2015-2016 but I have to give a massive shout-out to this guy. The podcasts have been made really well production-wise. There’s a high-quality sound to them and there’s a host who seems to have radio experience or at least sounds like he very much should have radio experience but then randomly drops in an innuendo which makes me think he is a family member to Rob Foster. Anyway, it’s not important but I really like to try and imagine the lives of people on podcasts that I listen to…

Rob Foster’s voice is just beautiful. I don’t know this man but if a picture tells a thousand words, a voice can tell a million. Listen to Rob Foster aka The Lazy Gardener. Coincidentally, Rob Foster also had the same domain as I have now thelaszygardener.org so that really is quite spooky. I just love this guy’s spirit in his voice. It’s so meditative. What a great guy.

Btw I bought the trademark to The Lazy Gardener when I first started out, before knowing that to call yourself The Lazy Gardener, is more akin to calling yourself ‘spiritual’ than anything sinister. So I needn’t have bothered and saved myself £175.
